![]() ![]() I ordered a new switch and a couple bulb holders for the back tail lights because now the back right tail light is out and I think the metal bulb holders are a bit rusty and old and I had to fiddle with the bulbs to make them work before, my guess is the bulb just rattled loose again I wish I could have been as stupid enough to not turn the dial.lol I ran out and tried this, but it still didn't work. Have you dialed the headlight switch to the right? They dim and brighten by turning the switch like a knob. Im going to go with the super obvious here. Look at a '67 wiring diagram (first year for 12V) and compare it to whatever year 6V Beetle you have that was converted (which is not mentioned). My guess is that the switch is not working correctly, so I will try and move it to the terminal as you suggest. All the tap is old markings that have faded since. The dash bulbs were in the holes I just had them out in the picture. I even have a picture that proves they were working the night before.lol My tail lights were working just fine, and then when I went to go check this morning on the way to work it was just as you said one of the lights was not working. But first things first.Īs a general rule, cheap parts are the most expensive parts you can buy. As wired stock they are unfused and the bulb holders run super close to shorting out against the headlight bucket in the fender. Then I recommend you change the wiring so the front parking lights are on when the headlights are on. It goes in the hole at the top of the speedo, and will not light unless the housing is grounded (and a light touch may not work.) That wire should go to 58b on the light switch, but usually that terminal no longer works on old switches, so I recommend you wire it to the unused terminal in front of the terminal where you need to connect the gray/black wire. The dash light bulb can be seen taped to your speedometer. (The terminal you labeled "I think there should be a wire here but What wire?) Right now only the right tail light and license plate light should be working unless somebody did some rewiring at the back end. The gray/black wire you note should go on the terminal to the right of the red/gray wire so both tail lights and the license plate light work. You see the gray/red wire on the fuse block, where the other terminal at that point is empty and the fuse outputs to the right are both open? Behind those 4 output terminals you can see an input terminal with gray wire - that is the tail light power for those 2 fuses. Posted: Mon 12:38 am Post subject: Re: Dash light issue ![]()
